Pumpkin Play

We played pass the pumpkin!

 Pass the Pumpkin winner!

 It was fun to clean out this little pumpkin!

 We found lots of pumpkin seeds!

 It's slimy!

 

 We made "Upside Down Pumpkin Pie"!

 We mixed sugar free pudding and pumpkin!

 We put the graham cracker crust on top!

We like pumpkins!

We had lots of fun learning about "A" this week!  We made apple hats!

Our applesauce was yummy!

We read about Apple Annie and Johnny Appleseed!

We made an Alligator and learned about the more than less than sign!  We know the alligator likes to eat the greater number.

We watched real alligators eat at a zoo!

 We did the "Alligator Chant"!

We had fun learning about letter Aa!

Andy Acid's Strawberry Jam Experiment

Today we learned about Andy Acid.  He knows a lot about acidic foods and how they affect our bodies.

We learned that when we eat to many foods with acid it may cause us to have a tummy ache.

Andy acid created a special formula to test food for acids.  This helps him discover which foods and substances have acids in them.

WE TRIED ANDY'S STRAWBERRY JAM EXPERIMENT!

Jam is an indicator that tells if a substance is an acid or a base.  When ammonia is added to the jam and water, it is supposed to turn blue, indicating that it is a base.  When vinegar, is added, the water with jam should turn red. 

 

Our jam must have had TOO MANY preservatives because our water did not turn blue or red.  However, when we poured the ammonia in, the water turned darker and the vinegar made the water turn lighter.  Next, time we will be sure to use homemade strawberry jam or jelly.  

Sometimes SCIENCE is unpredictable!
