Pajama Day in Kindergarten for Letter P!
We also learned about Pressure Pete!
Pressure Pete knows a lot about air pressure!
We tried Pressure Pete's Drinking Straw Experiment!
We placed two straws in our mouth.
We put one straw in the glass of water and the other straw outside the glass.
We put one straw in the glass of water and the other straw outside the glass.
Then it was time to drink!
Conclusion: Under normal circumstances, when you suck on a straw you lower the air pressure in your mouth and the liquid is pulled up the straw. However, when you have a straw outside the glass too, it will continue to bring air inside your mouth. This keeps the air pressure the same both inside and outside your mouth. Therefore, it will be very difficult to get the water up the straw and into your mouth!
We had fun learning about air pressure!
