Hip Hip Hooray! One more day!
We are so excited about our field trip tomorrow! We have had fun learning about Pippi Longstocking this week. She's a character!!! We have been reading the chapter book just like first graders! Who knew, we could be such good listeners!
This week we have learned a lot about Pippi! She is a nine year old girl who lives by herself in her home, Villa Villekulla. Her father was a captain and her mother died when she was young, so she spent a lot of time at sea. When her father disappeared she moved back home. She has superhuman strength and can lift her horse with one hand. Her best friends are her monkey, Mr. Nilsson, her horse and the neighbor children, Tommy and Annika! Pippi had never gone to school and doesn't want to grow up! We learned that Pippi is a great "storyteller"! Her friends are mesmerized by her adventurous and somewhat ridiculous stories! We love Pippi and can't wait to see a real live performance tomorrow!
We will be
leaving between 8:15 and 8:20 so please make sure your child is at school on
time. We would like for all children to
wear a school or Lockhart Lion shirt.
If your child is bringing his/her own lunch, please be sure to print
their name on their lunch sack and drink.
If you have already purchased a ticket to the show you may meet us at
the theater. You are welcome to park in
the lot behind the theater. Please be
sure you park in designated Scottish Rite Theater parking or you may park in
any other public parking areas. The show
will begin at 10:00 am and lasts around one hour. Following the show, we will load the bus and
make our way to Richard
Moya Park . We should arrive around 11:30. If you did not purchase tickets to see Pippi
Longstocking, but would like to have lunch with your child you can meet us at
the park. After lunch, all children will
have time to play. If you are planning on
taking your child home you will need to sign your child out before
leaving. Thanks for your
cooperation. We are looking forward to a
great day!
