Mixed-Up Monday

Today was Mixed-Up Monday!  Each week will we will have a "Lucky Letter" that we will focus on.  Although, we are learning other letters this will be a special letter throughout the week.  This week's lucky letter is Mm!  We had fun reading the Mixed-Up Chameleon and retelling the story!  This is a great story about learning to like yourself just the way you are!  It is so important that we teach children at an early age to love themselves and be thankful for their great characteristics.  Although we are all very different, each of us have Marvelous talents!  We just have to find them!

We were very Mixed-Up, just like our Chameleon friend!  We wore mismatch shoes, crazy socks, backwards shirts and crazy colors!

Constitution Day

We the People
Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution by thirty-nine brave men on September 17, 1787, recognizing all who, are born in the U.S.
or by naturalization, have become citizens.

Kindergarten kids say, “Hurray for America and the red, white and blue!” We have learned a lot about our country this week and what we can do to be good Americans.  We have discussed American symbols such as our USA Flag, the Bald Eagle, the Statue of Liberty, the Liberty Bell, the White House and the President.  Today we learned about the Constitution.  We know it is a list of rules and promises for all Americans.  As a class, we decided we needed a list of rules to help everyone be fair and honest.  So, the students in our classroom now have The Kindergarten Constitution!!  To show patriotism, our classes made American flags.

We are proud to be Americans!

B-R-O-W-N spells BROWN!

We are learning a lot!
We can spell our color words!
We know how to use our 5 senses and problem solving skills to make predictions and answer questions!

OUR COLOR BROWN EXPERIMENT

We were not sure what this brown ingredient was on the plate.
We observed and discussed the many things it could have been.
We had some very intelligent predictions.  Then we smelled it and were almost positive it smelled like chocolate.  Some of our ideas included...chocolate cake batter, cookie mix, chocolate milk (all of which sounded very yummy).
We decided to add some milk because we know that milk and anything chocolate would go together.

We took turns stirring and as we observed the mixture we noticed that it became much thicker.

Now we will use our sense of TASTE!

It was unanimous...we made pudding!
And it was delicious!
Learning is so much fun!

We will not forget BROWN!
