SHAPES, SHAPES, SHAPES

We are having fun with 2D and 3D shapes!
We had some fantastic shapes brought from home!  We are amazed that shapes are all around us!
These crackers inside their wrapper make a cylinder shape, but when they are separate we have flat circles.
 More cylinders!
  Cones and prisms!

 Spheres are our favorite!
We like to play with balls and eat oranges!
We each had an orange today!!

We know that shapes can be put together to make new shapes!!

We used play-doh and sticks to build a shape.

We decided to work together in groups to build more shapes using pretzels and marshmallows.  We knew it would be tricky so we made a list of some of the problems we might have and how we could fix them!

We learned that teamwork is important!

We had fun counting the sides and the vertices!

 This was almost a cube!!

We can't wait to learn more about shapes!  Thanks to all parents for helping your child at home and for participating in our learning activities!

Fun in February!

We have had lots of fun in February!

Here are some pictures of our Valentines Party!  We had yummy treats, fun with friends and even dancing!  Kindergarten is the place to be!

Valentines News!

We will be having our Valentine’s Party on Friday, February 13th.  We are asking each student to bring $2.00 to cover the cost for ice cream, juice, and cookies.  Thanks to all the parents who have already sent money! :) I would like for all students to prepare their Valentine cards at home and bring them by Wednesday, February 11th to mail to their friends.

We will not have time to address Valentine cards at school. At this age, I have found that it is a lot easier if you leave the envelope blank and have your child sign their name only on the card.   The students will put one card in each Valentine bag!!!

There are 15 students in our class.  If you would like to send Valentines for students in the other kindergarten classes you may, but please send one for each of the students our classroom. We are looking forward to a fun day!

Thanks again for continued support!

100 Days Smarter!

It is hard to believe we have been in school for over 100 days!
It has been a fantastic year with these kids!  They have made lots of friends and are having lots of fun!  They have learned so much AND SO HAVE I!

We had lots of fun with 100's day activities!
We dressed like we were one hundred years old!
We wrote about things we would like to do before we turn 100 years old!
We wrote in our journals about what we would buy with $100 dollars.

 We each collected 100 pennies!
We rolled the dice to make 100 and practiced graphing!

We made a 100's day snack!  It was yummy!

We are excited to learn a lot more in kindergarten!
